Consumer Review

From what I've read, this is a real love-it or hate-it film and I absolutely LOVE it. It's definitely in the style of Wes Anderson (his downplaying, dry sense of humor in all of his movies), Alexander Payne (his slice of life high school film Election), and Todd Solondz (his mean-spirited, overrated Welcome To The Dollhouse [Happiness is a much better film]) but it creates a truly unqiue character study with some truly unqiue characters. The acting is perfect, as the actors are lost in their roles, and the direction is very quirky (althouh purely Wes Anderson inspired). And I've still yet to mention that it's HILARIOUS. I didn't stop laughing at all, from the interesting, quirky title sequence to the sweet, fitting ending. Some people have complained that you're laughing at these character's misfortune, and that may be true in a few gags, but as I was laughing I grew to LOVE them and only wanted a happy ending. This will be a huge word-of-mouth film and will do excellent on DVD. Definitely for those who love independent and quirky.
